Recycling carbon fibre in Salt Lake City

New set up is similar to collaboration already established in Europe.

Hexcel and Fairmat have announced a ten-year agreement to recycle carbon fibre composite materials from Hexcel’s Salt Lake City plant for reuse.

Fairmat recently opened its new 15,000-square-foot recycling facility close to the Hexcel Salt Lake City site, which is home to the largest high-performance carbon fibre manufacturing facility in North America. Under the new agreement Fairmat will recycle Hexcel’s composite material scrap at its new site.

Similar to the successful collaboration established previously with Hexcel composite material manufacturing sites in Europe, the agreement underscores the dedication of both companies to sustainable solutions and long-term collaboration.

“This is a significant stride toward advancing sustainability in our carbon fibre industry,” said Benjamin Saada, founder and CEO of Fairmat. “With our new Utah facility and US leadership team in place, we are ready to work closely with Hexcel.”

“Hexcel is strongly committed to responsible environmental stewardship, not only by reducing carbon emissions through the use of our lightweight composite materials on commercial aircraft, but also by reducing landfill waste of scrap materials,” added Philippe Chevrier, Hexcel president of Americas and global fibres. “Hexcel has a robust carbon fibre recycling programme in place and this latest agreement with Fairmat expands our efforts.”

Exporters demand abolition of new tax regime

Exporters demand abolition of new tax regime KARACHI: While rejecting the federal budget 2024-25, almost all the key chambers and trade associations have asked the government to abolish the Final Tax Regime (FTR) and other anti-exports taxation measures. Addressing a press conference at the PHMA House on Tuesday, which was virtually attended by representatives of various associations from other stations across the country, Chief Coordinator and Spokesman of All Exports Associations of Pakistan (AEAP) Muhammad Jawed Bilwani warned the government to observe a black day and suspend exports for one day if the issue isn’t resolved immediately. “The next option is to close the factories,” he warned. Exporters from all over Pakistan have unanimousl...
